Are you a fan of Harry Potter?  If the answer is YES you may want to check out Universal Studios in Orlando Florida.  Universal Studios is located less than 30 miles away from Disney World, and only a couple miles from Sea World so many people visit Universal Studios and Island of Adventure.

The “STAR” of Universal Orlando complex is clearly HARRY POTTER.  On a recent visit I found the Wizarding World of Harry Potter to be very entertaining.  The Harry Potter Attractions are now in both the Island of Adventure and The Universal Studio.  The Universal team has created an environment where you truly feel as though you are IN Harry Potter’s world.  The Harry Potter theme is connected via train ride to both parks, and even the train ride is filled with amazing details, and story line.  This is not one ride, but rather 2 separate towns, where you can visit Hogwarts or the Bank (with fire breathing dragon on top)  Be sure to bring $$$ because there are wands, costumes, scars, butter beer, and many other items which are sold ONLY IN UNIVERSAL.

As I am sight challenged at times it was a bit hard finding my way through the dark tunnels of Hogwarts on the way to the Dueling Dragons roller coaster.  The environment, lighting, and lack of modern items (like sodas, atm machines, and hot dogs) help create an authentic atmosphere.

People who are mobility challenged will have alternative entrances to some rides, and may miss out in the build up to the ride itself.  There is also plenty of space to sit back and people watch if a ride is too adventurous for someone.  The staff is helpful with special needs customers, and seem to really be in character.  Universal offers free lockers at most attractions, which I believe is a 2 thumbs up.  It means any special equipment can be stored safely while you are on the rides.

A few things you should NOT MISS

Drinking a frozen Butter Beer

Watching the wand choice of children at the wand shop

Seeing Hogwarts and the merchandise

Eating a chocolate ear or the beans

Listening to a child (10-15 years old) excited about being at Hogwarts.  They notice details we sometimes overlook.
