As a Baby Boomer, you've probably made a few trips to Las Vegas over the years and may be looking for a new angle in the area. You might even want to take the kids and grandkids, but can't seem to find the right hotel. Or, you might like to combine some outoor adventure along with a bit of gambling, but where to go? Well, you've come to the right place at www.boomertravelpatrol.com because we have scouted the area for you!

Located 13 miles from the Vegas Strip in Summerlin, Nevada, you will find the sprawling 815 room Red Rock Resort. It comes with slot machines, table games, a bingo hall and more. In addition, there is a 16 screen cinema, 60 lane bowling alley, 3 acre pool area, 11 restaurants and a spa and fitness center. What? You want more? How about a notable art collection, a shopping mall across the street and a location that is 2 miles from the Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area?

I know I mentioned a fitness center at the hotel, but with the Red Rock Canyon Conservation Area so close, you will find all the exercise and adventure that you could possibly imagine. Red Rock Adventures can arrange a variety of activities for you. There is horseback riding (try doing that on the Vegas Strip!), river rafting, kayaking, biking, rock climbing and hiking. You can actually walk away from the slot machines and take in a part of the Mojave Desert! There are waterfalls along the way and the area is home to 200 different mammals including red tailed hawks, golden eagles, bighorn sheep, burros and mountain lions.

If you are a bit nostalgic for the Strip, have no fear because the Resort provides a free shuttle there every few hours. They also provide a free limited shuttle from the airport – you need to check with the hotel in advance to arrange it.

The rooms are big and clean and provide Canyon views. There is also free valet and self-parking if you rented a car. If you bring along the kids and grandkids, they have supervised activities and child care for a fee. Another fee that is added, which is becoming a regular thing at resorts, and that is a daily resort fee. Here it is about $36 per room per day.

All in all, this place will amaze you and give you a new perspective of the Las Vegas area. If you've been trying to think of a new place to go for a vacation, I think you just found it!
