George and Linda Meyers, our Culinary Patrol, and the Washington, DC-based couple who gave up the rat race to cook in Tuscany for a year — and ended up founding three cooking schools (Cook In Tuscany, Cook In Mexico, and Cook In Cuba) — have taken yet another step in living the life of their dreams: they bought their own boutique hotel in Tuscany called La Chiusa!
La Chiusa is an 18-room boutique hotel created in a former olive mill nestled in the hills of Tuscany in the town of Montefollonico. Every room is unique and has all the comforts of a luxury hotel including hair dryers, in-room safe, and evening turndown service. The Meyers want La Chiusa to be a welcoming, comfortable, hilltop hideaway which offers a quiet and relaxing respite after a day of sightseeing, cooking, shopping, and eating in Tuscany. Rates at La Chiusa start from $128 per night for a standard double and go up to $278 per night for a deluxe family room with terrace. All rates include breakfast daily.

Guests can enjoy the beautiful views of Montepulciano and Monte Amiata as they stroll the rolling hills that lead to the property's 900-tree olive grove and then return to their room each evening to turn down service and a sweet treat!

La Chiusa's Michelin-star garden-to-table restaurant serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner and guests are always welcome into the kitchen for a slice of fresh baked cake or a piece of cantucci (almond cookies). La Chiusa uses fresh, locally sourced ingredients, and prepares each meal with recipes passed down from generation to generation.

La Chiusa will also be the home base for the Meyer's cooking school, Cook In Tuscany, where participants will stay at the hotel and cook in the kitchen — as well as explore, taste, and cook throughout Tuscany.

La Chiusa is an 18-room boutique hotel located in a former olive mill nestled in the hills of Montefollonico in Tuscany. The property features a Michelin-star garden-to-table restaurant, Concierge Desk, laundry service, Wi-Fi, meeting rooms able to accommodate up to 30 people, and complimentary parking. The property is pet friendly. Each of the individually decorated guest rooms offers the amenities of a luxury hotel including hair dryer, WiFi, evening turn-down service, and in-room safe. Guests are welcomed with a complimentary cocktail and are always invited to stop in the kitchen for for a slice of fresh baked cake or a piece of cantucci (almond cookies). La Chiusa is also the home base for Cook In Tuscany, a week-long cooking experience in Tuscany.
