August 25th is National Whiskey Sour Day and 18 Oaks, at the JW Marriott San Antonio Hill Country Resort & Spa, has a smart and tart variation to offer. The San Antonio Sour twists lemon tartness together with wine warmth to create a non-traditional whiskey sour tongue teaser.
The origin of the Whiskey Sour dates back to 1862. It's a classic cocktail and a staple in the sour family of mixology; however, the bartenders at 18 Oaks have a creative streak and have fashioned a cocktail with balanced brightness that is nowhere near traditional.
San Antonio Sour
1.25 oz .44 Ranger Creek Rye Whiskey
0.5 oz Agave
0.5 oz Lemon Juice
1 oz "Light-bodied" Red Wine
Shake rye whiskey, agave and lemon juice. Strain over ice with bar spoon; layer wine on top - two layers.
Garnish with a lemon twist and ENJOY!!
