We travel for many reasons - to experience, enjoy, and learn about other cultures and ways of life. Doubtless, Italy is at the top of many lists. Dreamy photos and Hollywood’s romantic images perpetuate the stereotypes.
For those and many other reasons, I feel that it’s important to prepare you for the real and authentic Italy. And, the real and authentic Italy will never disappoint!

The numbers game! Dates, addresses, etc. are written differently - it’s a good idea to familiarize yourself…
Learn to read time according to the 24-hour clock.
Familiarize yourself with Centigrade vs. Fahrenheit.
Think in euros and remember the exchange rate fluctuates.
Knowing basic metric measurements is useful.
You will need an adapter for any of your devices.
Safety and Well-Being
Don’t believe everything you “hear” but always practice personal safety and pay attention at all times - and that means before you leave home - so that it’s a habit.
You need a valid passport (6 months from the date you depart Italy).
Make copies of your passport and all ID’s, credit cards, emergency contacts, etc.
Do not carry your passport while sightseeing.
NEVER leave any belongings unattended.
Don’t burden yourself with bulky luggage, bags, etc.
Ladies - wear a cross-body purse.
Gents - never put your wallet or valuables in back pockets.
Watch yourself in crowds.
